2- 5 Room

(Chickadees 2 years and Bluebirds 3 - 5 year olds)

The EYFS framework is followed in this room.

This room is registered for 22 children aged 2 - 5 years and also provides pre school education for 3-5 year olds.

When your child is 3 they are entitled to 15 hours education per week free during term time.  This can be used either in one 10 hour session and one 5 hour session, or in 3 hour sessions throughout the week.

Each child has an EYFS profile which is updated from observations and evidence  gained at the setting. Activities are planned around children’s interests. This profile is handed to the Reception Teacher when your child starts school along with a transfer report.

We strongly believe in the children learning through play and having control over their choices and activities, we also believe that outside play is vital for their health and enjoyment and encourage the children to play outside whenever possible.

Songbirds work closely with the local schools in order to help the children settle into school life when they start.  We have a two way sharing process of information and experience through teacher and staff visits and meetings.
The Nursery Manager is also a school governor of Preston Primary School.

Pick up service - we can collect children from a local pick up point in Preston for children who are accessing Nursery Education.
